Yeti Farm Creative Presentation

Hey everyone! A couple weeks ago my IAI class had the privlege of having a virtual tour and Q&A  with the one and only Todd Ramsay the CEO of Yeti Farm Creative. Now you may be thinking when you hear the name Yeti Farm Creative a farm where they have yeti's that can express themselves creatively. No silly it is a local animation studio right her in the heart of Kelowna B.C. They have worked on some of the most well known shows to this day like Hotel Transylvania The Series and Pete The Cat.

During the tour we got to witness what the work set up looked like seeing the animators working at their desk's with the few that we did see as most were working from home due to the pandemic. Back in more normal times there is usually close to 200 employees working there on a daily basis. They even have your friendly four legged companions that are there for all the belly rubs and cuddles. We got to meet one of the beloved doggos Rocket! What I really loved about Yeti Farm when seeing the atmosphere on tour is that they have a very homey feel to their studio. Animators had their little shrines of figurines at their cubicles, there was a relaxation lounge, kitchen, and even a retro gaming station!

Todd was so helpful in answering any questions that we had whether it was regarding what a regular work day looked like to tips for having a good demo real. One thing Todd mentioned for the demo reel is for it to be no longer than 1 minute if we can and it doesn't have to be anything overly out there. Put your best work on the table and as they always say the simple and clean can be the best of stuff. I would love to have the privilege of being able to work at Yeti Farm post graduation and have new and exciting opportunities to further my career.

Thank you Todd Ramsay for the informative presentation and tour it was truly inspiring!

A little about myself

Hey there folks! My name is Tatianna Moolyk and I am currently studying at CATO to become a 2D Animator and Illustrator! I have just hit the halfway point into my first quarter and let me tell you what a heck of a journey it has already been so far. There has not been one dull moment so far.

For as long as I can remember, I have always had a passion for art growing up. Ever since I could hold a pencil, you would find me sitting drawing away in my sketchbooks or on any scrap piece of paper I could find just doodling away. Every Saturday morning I can picture myself sitting there with a bowl of cereal munching away at the kitchen table with a prime view of the tv where my favourite classic cartoons would play. I always thought to myself wouldn't it be cool to just be able to sit and create cartoons all day. One summer I went to Disney World and saw an artist in residence known as an animator sitting at his desk drawing the classic Disney characters that we all know and love. I was in awe of his work, immediately knowing this is what I want to do being a Disney fanatic and all. Now here at CATO I am finally getting a chance to pursue my studies into something my heart desires.

The purpose in creating this blog is for all you lovely folks at home to follow along with me as I document you through my animation journey which starts today!
